AUSTRALIAN RECOVERY CENTRES DESTROYED BY THE AUSTRALIAN BUSHFIRE

The Australian Recovery Centre burnt down on December the 22nd 2019 during the devastating bushfires that ravaged the Blue Mountains.

Melinda Lake, the co-founder and CEO of the centre, is extremely grateful to the RFS and her volunteer firefighter husband Paul, who fought hard to save the centre and their home.  After a long and arduous fight, they saved Melinda, Paul and their children's home except for one room. Unfortunately, the centre which houses  Australian Recovery's offices, client accommodation, resource library and catering kitchens burnt to the ground.

Melinda and the Australian Recovery Centres team would like the public visiting this page to understand that they require time to regroup and contemplate the future of Australian Recovery Centres and remain committed to the legacy left by Jim Maclaine, the Interact Therapy Programme and the many people who have and will continue to benefit from this treatment process.

Thank you to all those who have supported us with kind words, deeds and patience as we process this loss. Our families, friends, neighbours, the Salvos, St Vincent de Paul, the RFS and Marathon Health. Our insurers who were extremely quick to begin the process of assessment and who organised emergency accommodation for us during the holiday period and on Sundays.

Also special thanks to all the courageous participants of our Recovery Centre who have been in touch. Although the structure has gone, the memory of all the hard work and love that built the foundations for strong recoveries lives on. The spirit, determination, laughs & acts of letting go that we shared will never be lost.

Thanks everyone.
